Working beyond symptom management to get to the root of early wounds and experiences. Hanaan guides clients to resolve and build new perceptions, beliefs and emotions while making healthier choices guided by meaning and values.
My Services
Schema Therapy
Inherent in every human being is the longing for belonging, connection, understanding, and growth. Our profound desire to be known, seen, and recognized compels us to explore even the dormant, stuck, or suffering aspects of ourselves. However, when external factors such as deprivation, neglect, trauma, or loss impede our aspirations, these longings can intensify and reach profound depths.
Schema Therapy is designed to address unmet psychological and emotional needs, assisting clients in breaking persistent patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. These patterns, often deeply ingrained, are targeted for transformation, with the goal of cultivating healthier alternatives. Schema-Focused Therapy has demonstrated remarkable efficacy in empowering individuals to transform long-standing patterns, even in cases where previous methods and efforts proved unsuccessful.
The mind, much like the body, possesses a natural ability to heal itself. In 1987, Francine Shapiro harnessed this natural process to create Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a successful treatment for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Since its inception, EMDR has proven effective in addressing a broad spectrum of mental health problems including depression, anxiety disorders, addictions, phobias and complex trauma.
During an EMDR session, you will be asked to watch the therapist’s finger moving back and forth across your visual field, mimicking the eye movements during REM sleep. Through repeated sets of these eye movements, the targeted memory undergoes a transformation, shedding its painful intensity and evolving into a neutral recollection of a past event. This process can extend to the healing of associated memories, leading to a remarkable and swift improvement in various aspects of your life.”
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a short-term, focused approach to addressing a range of emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric problems. The application of CBT is tailored to the specific issue at hand, involving a collaborative and individualized program. It empowers individuals to identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors while acquiring or relearning healthier skills and habits. With a rich history of more than 30 years, CBT has undergone extensive research, showcasing its effectiveness in managing various emotional, psychological, and psychiatric difficulties. Furthermore, the field is continually evolving, with the emergence of third-wave CBT therapies such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and others, offering innovative solutions for diverse emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric challenges.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented psychotherapeutic approach that draws from traditional behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. In ACT, clients are guided to cease avoidance, denial, and struggle with their inner emotions. Instead, they cultivate acceptance, recognizing that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations. This acceptance empowers clients to move forward in their lives, acknowledging their hardships and committing to necessary behavioral changes, irrespective of external circumstances or emotional responses.
